Fippy

Hello, I'm Fippy! Welcome to my site of randomness and information you never wanted to know.

First a short introduction: Though happy to cross the pond from dear (if cold and wet) Blighty to sunny California, I am not quite so pleased to have crossed to the wrong side of 40. I live in San Diego, California with my wonderful wife Tamara. By day I work as a software engineer for a local web development company, though I spent most of my 10+ years in California working for Sony Online Entertainment. If you are a fan of EverQuest then you will have heard of it. My favourite colour is blue, hence the predominance of blue on this site. Now before you point out that I spell funny, I would argue that maybe you do instead, but we can argue that at a later date. I enjoy fine red wines, especially Port, mint julep's, spicy food, tender roast lamb, and I would probably commit murder if you tried to take my Starbucks away from me! (Bring back the Chantico!) We have 5 cats who entertain us continually.

We have a passion for travel. Favourite European Destinations include Paris, Madeira and Scotland. Here in the USA: New Orleans, DC, Baltimore and The Bay Area are places we will return to again and again. Where do we want to go? Everywhere!! (Well with the exception of Beirut and Iraq perhaps!) I'm an Aries, so expect me to have a million and one interests and I won't be offended if you refer to me as a dilettante. I read a lot, especially science, science fiction and fantasy. In fact we both have so many books, we had to build a library filling an entire room of our house. Our movie DVD collection also threatens to take over the house.

I am a wannabe author and am constantly working on this or that manuscript. I have had a couple of short stories published in magazines and you can see some of my shorter fiction on this site; but it is a full-blown novel that I hope to get published one day. I have also been known to scribble notes for a couple of non-fiction titles I would like to write.

I have a deep interest in all sciences but chiefly: Astronomy, spaceflight, interstellar travel, generation ships, space-time theory, medieval history, geography and world building. I like to ride roller coasters, and I am a licensed pilot.
