We’re probably about 2 weeks from close of escrow on our new house. We’ve been half seriously looking at houses for about a year now. We wanted to get a slightly bigger house to fit all our hobbies and to settle in, and about 6 weeks ago we found an awesome new house in a 9-house community in Vista. We love the house - the builder runs a small construction company and treated his 9 homes like custom homes, so they have lots of details and features that you don’t find in a mass-produced house. He and his girlfriend are nice people too, and have in fact moved into one of their own houses a couple of doors down from us. There’s a testimonial to the house quality, right there!

So, after some creative financing 101, we got a great mortgage with an unbelievably low interest rate and have been filling in paperwork ever since. Our old house is about to go on the market, and we’ve spent a couple of weeks packing like crazy. Our garage is now full of boxes and we’re not finished yet!
