I love writing software
I am having total fun at my job, so much so that I can barely call it work. Whilst I very much enjoyed working for SOE, alongside some of the greatest minds in the games industry; I see now that I had fallen into a rut in the last year or so. The work in our team had ceased to push me mentally and I wasn’t really increasing my skills. I won’t say that was SOE’s fault - I must take some of that blame too.
But at Inclue!, I work in a tight-knit team of awesome folks and we all have a burning passion for what we are creating. Creative ideas flow so thick that we have to keep pushing them back for later, or else we’ll never get our Client 2.0 out the door! We have so much cool stuff lined up that the future ought to be just as exciting.
Almost every day I am thrust into a challenging piece of code that I have never written before. It’s extremely satisfying to do the research and fight just long enough over making the code work that the satisfaction when it finally works is very rewarding. Much of this windows programming I have never done before. I can’t wait to get back to my main love - linux server programming - but right now I’m having a lot of fun on the windows client side.
I’m very lucky to be able to get up in the morning and look forward to getting to work!

I can really relate. I’ve been learning Ruby on Rails and using the text editor TextMate. The editor has made coding that much more enjoyable. It’s really weird how big a difference having a good tool can make. It must be how southpaws feel when they get a pair of left-handed scissors.
