Adventures in Geocaching
Today we spent a delightful hour wandering around Carlsbad on a geocache hunt. The weather was perfect - overcast but warm and bright and with a nice breeze.
The cache we were looking for was Carlsbad Village Historic Walk, which consisted of a series of clues, that took us on a tour of part of Carlsbad, seeing buildings that we never knew existed even though we drive along the coast highway regularly.
Having narrowed down the final cache location to 10-20 ft, wI was having a little difficulty finding it, but Tamara used her super tracking skills to home right in on it.
Inside the cache we found our first Travel Bug - a little “dog-tag” that has an ID number and can be tracked via special web site. Each TB has a mission. This one’s mission was to visit every Legoland in the world. After starting its mission in Balboa back in April, we noticed that it had still not reached Legoland in Carlsbad, so I’m going to take it there in the next couple of days and then drop it back into another cache to continue its journey.
All in all a nice alternative to sitting on the couch watching a movie.
